Peanut Butter Balls for Christmas

Sweater: Kiel James Patrick

‘Tis the season for decadent desserts! This peanut butter ball dessert recipe is perfect to make for any holiday gathering. Growing up, my family would always make peanut butter balls for Christmas. They are one of my absolute favorite sweet treats. As an adult, I have continued the tradition of making a large batch for all my loved ones. I love carrying on holiday traditions, and these peanut butter balls not only taste delicious, but also bring back nostalgic memories of what it felt like to be a kid on Christmas morning.

Here is the recipe:

One batch makes about 48 peanut butter balls

Cook Time: ~1 hourĀ

  • 1 stick of butter
  • 2 cups creamy peanut butter
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 3.5 cups Rice Krispies (or Rice Chex for a glutton free alternative)
  • 1 package chocolate almond bark
  • 3-4 squares of white almond bark

Step 1: Cream the butter and peanut butter until blended. Add powdered sugar and mix well (we used our KitchenAid mixer). Then, gently fold in the Rice Krispies.

Step 2 (Optional): If you have the extra time, chill the dough. This will help make the chocolate harden quicker and not drip.

Step 3: Form the dough into 1 inch balls. I used a cookie scoop to make the ball formation more uniformed. You can also roll by hand.

Step 4: Melt chocolateĀ  and white bark together until product is smooth. I heated the bark in the microwave in 30 second increments so it didn’t burn. Then, quickly dip the balls into the chocolate bark and shake off excess chocolate bark. Lay each ball on parchment paper to dry.

Step 5 (Optional): If you want to add an extra flair, heat up 2-3 extra blocks of white almond bark and drizzle it over the top of each ball. You can also add sprinkles, nuts, or even sea salt depending on your personal preference.

As soon as the chocolate is hard, they are ready to eat! Store in an airtight container. They do not need to be refrigerated.

These peanut butter balls make great gifts too! I love buying cute Christmas tins to put them in and give to neighbors, teachers, coworkers, family, and friends.

Enjoy!
