While researching where to stay in Copacabana, Bolivia, I came across Hostel Las Olas. Fun fact: ‘Las Olas’ translates to ‘The Waves.’ This hostel seemed promising enough online, and the price was unbeatable (it worked out to be about $50 USD, and you paid in cash when you checked in).
When Will and I finally arrived in person, the hostel felt like a whimsical fairytale. The architecture mimicked the shapes of seashells, and most of the rooms had oversized windows that highlighted the breathtaking views of Lake Titicaca. The tile work was bold and colorful, and there were dozens of potted plants placed throughout our suite, including in our spacious shower. I felt like I was bathing in the middle of the jungle while still having the luxury of modern amenities.
The courtyards and balconies were also dreamy. Hammocks, tables, and chairs were set up in various spots around the property. It felt very private. Cute alpacas freely roamed around the grounds adding even more charm.
Las Olas was a short walk to nice restaurants. I recommend trying the Trout. Lake Titicaca is famous for this dish.
Ultimately, Las Olas ended up being one of our favorite places we stayed at on our Peru/Bolivia vacation. I highly recommend this place if you ever find yourself in Copacabana, Bolivia.
