Welcome to Book Club: Fox Crossing. Written by Melinda Metz, Fox Crossing is a story involving love, romance, nature, and Maine wilderness. Packed with New England ideals and small-town charm, this book makes you feel the way a Hallmark movie does–happy, sentimental, and festive. Adorned with fox imagery and folklore, I knew I had to give it a go. If you’re looking for an easy, cheesy, happy-go-lucky read, this book is for you.
Book Synopsis:
Fox Crossing is a small town in Maine with a local fox legend. It is said that if you catch a sighting of this magical yet elusive fox, good things will happen to you. The origins of this legend date back to when one of the town’s founders found a distinctly marked fox trapped in a cage. This founder, Annabelle Hatherley, proceeded to free the fox. From there, whoever saw the fox was immediately blessed with love and happiness.
Fast forward to present day Fox Crossing. Annie Hatherley, a tough and pragmatic woman, runs an outdoor supply shop for those looking to hike the Appalachian Trail. When a handsome yet naive stranger, Nick Ferrone, comes into her store, Annie is not shy about letting him know how ignorant he is for going out in the wilderness without proper preparation. Yet Nick embarks on the 100 mile trek anyway. Afterwards, a concerned Annie sees the legendary fox for the very first time. The “white-eared vixen” leads her back to Nick Ferrone who is in desperate need of help…
Many other townsfolk begin to encounter the fox, and amazing things start to happen to them too. Annie’s skepticism begins to wane as she sees the magic unfolding with her own eyes. Through a few ups and downs, Annie, Nick, and the other townsfolk begin to find love and transform for the better thanks to a little help from the friendly town fox.
In the spirit of Fox Crossing, I have added some extra fox themed gifts to shop below. Enjoy!
